New contractor for Brighton bins
Following the termination of the contract with French multinational Sita after workers went on strike over outrageous new working conditions, (see http://www.schnews.org.uk/archive/news308.htm) Brighton has awarded the new contractor to another company, Serviceteam, rather than retaining the service in-house. The BBC report of the new award is interesting as it totally fails to mention the strike which brought Sita to its knees and forced the council to withdraw their contract – obviously maintaining the myth that in this brave spin-doctored New Labour world industrial disputes are a thing of the past…

Death blast power station reopens
