01.08.05 GSL in Australia has recently been fined $500 000 for mistreatment of immigrant detainees who were being moved from one detention centre to another. An independent investigation discovered that detainees were manhandled and denied access to food, water and toilets. Two managers named in the report have resigned and other staff members are facing disciplinary action.
